I have been feeling a fair bit of #praxisParalysis over the last two years. Honestly I can’t believe it’s been that long since my last upload. Man how times change in such a short span.

The more I learn, the harder it seems to see the path forward that lifts humanity out of it’s current spiral while providing the least upheaval as possible. There are always silver linings, everyday I see more and more content about how we do have options and that things can change, the young and upcoming voices are far more learned than I was at that age which gives me eternal hope. I guess my issue is with the system we currently live under in the western world, more broadly there is little appetite for anyone to suffer even the slightest so that all can prosper. And I say this to & for myself as much as for anyone else.
No option suits every one. No singular option leaves no one footing the bill. Obviously there are those who can easily afford to pay and are long overdue in paying their share, but they so adept at passing the buck, having much more practice than the rest of us and whole systems setup to socialise their loses.
The consumerism and individualism inherent in western culture has such a pervasive hold that I am paralysed with inaction for fear of taking the wrong course of action. Or the course of least outcome, if we’ve been taught anything it’s that doing nothing and staying the course isn’t as bad as being yet another failed example, of something other than capitalism, that didn’t work. Not to mention our modern historical context of having so many promising changes that got widespread public support just amount to nothing. Top of mind being fed that recycling will save the world! And yet more plastic is being used than ever, microplastics are in the air we breath and the water we drink, general plastic use is set to double by 2040 and estimates are that plastic will outweigh fish in the worlds oceans by 2050.
There is a better way. I know, you know it. We need to keep in mind all the best cliches, a single drop of water does not mould the beaches, no field is watered by a single drop of rain. Our strength is in remembering that alone we achieve small incremental shifts forward and together we shape the future. If all you can manage is to let other people know that they are not alone, that you too know there is a better way, that while it’s dark now the light is just around the corner.
The glass is half full, time to bring the rain and fill it all the way up.
